I have been looking around trying to get a Boss, then thought hell, what could I build. Check this out.

Start with a 2011 Mustang 5.0 (manual) 29,145 (all Boss' start here)
add shipping 850
Yellow Blaze Met. (my color) 595
Brembo Brake Package 1,695 (same as Boss)
3:73 gears 395
19" dark stainless wheels 0 (look better than Boss)

Total 32,580
My price with plan 29,800

You can opt for the boss intake at 600 bux or Roush R2300 supercharger (525hp) for 6100 (installation cost?). Hood and Boss side strips can be made locally for about 1000 installed.

My Boss 5.0 Supercharged would cost around 37000 plus taxes and have more horsepower. WOW a Boss clone already????

I'm planning on getting a GT with an auto and either putting on the Whipple or the Procharger setup. Get the car and let's do something to it!

Bill, an auto? Why? I thought you would be all about manuals.

Yea the way to keep every track event from costing $1,000 or more. Auto in the car for over 2 years and no damage = priceless.

The autos are faster, too. I almost got an auto this time but this car will likely get road raced eventually so I need the manual. (what I really need is an auto 5.0 for the 1320 and a Boss for the road course- then a divorce lawyer and a sponsor after that...)

As far as the Boss v/s the GT you can't go wrong either way. If you can swing the extra 7-10 grand for the Boss I'd go for it. Besides the extra power and higher revs it has better suspension, bigger meats out back, awesome seats (that will find their way into my car), looks badass, and a lot of other subtle little things that escape me at the moment.

I'm a gear slammer, gimme the stick. Any hooo Ford Racing is now offering the Boss Motor M-6007-M50B ($ 12K). Or for my buildup car get the Boss Shields M-6P07-M50B for $ 100. Im still on a waiting list to order if I want the Boss. As a matter of principle it is not really what it costs as much as who you want to give your money too. When I got my 08 Bullitt I went to Sunset (5k over) and to Bell (10k over) then to Sanderson where I bot mine at "MSRP" (same day). Since I have purcased 5 vehicles and taken 5 or so friends to purchase there, so that's who gets my money, not to mention that they sponsor Wildwest. Dave Kimmerle is a car guy and very supportive of the community, those other yahoos are run by automotive dealer groups and know jack about cars except to hustle them, when you buy from him your dollars stay right here. Gotta go, heading to Route 66, (have camcorder mounted in the 66 so should have some great ride vids and pix when I get back).

The biggest reason the new 6spd auto is a brute and will take a lot of HP STOCK!
How is 10.00 on a stock tranny with a stock converter?

I love a stick and have drive several new ones. The auto is just a killer transmission!

make sense. i was gonna say yea if your gonna be dragging it i could see you getting an auto. but i eventually want to road race the shelby.

One other reason for the Boss is the Track Key.

Still thinking BOSS Build up. I think the Boss thing is like the Bullitt thing, red hot at first (stupid money to get one) then like the Bullitt now....go for same money as at GT on the used market. My 66 did awsome on RT66, sometimes having an old car is just plain tits. Everywere I went people were all over my car. What should I do, can't have both.

You will never have the nostalgic feel that your 66 has. No matter what Boss, unless potentially the Laguna Seca edition. However I still think if you parked the 2 right next to each other your 66 would strike more conversation. When I had my 72 Mach 1 every place I went in the car struck up a conversation with complete strangers, but my newer S197 does not have that same affect on people. So in reality if it were me with what I know now, I probably should have held onto the 72. For absolute creature comfort, I'm totally glad to have a car with great air and heat, my wife likes the newer one better as well, and you cant beat the feeling of reliability with a new car. My 72 I was always worried it could break down on a road trip. It never let me down, but I didn't always have faith in it.
