Does anyone know what the trap speed will be at 6500 RPMs with a 28" Slick with 4:10's and a 6 speed. Just curious when I would run out of gear.

That doesnt make any sense. to go that MPH you would need 31.2" of tire with 4.10s at 6500. its math, so it cant be wrong. unless you have non 1 to 1 third gear in your c4.

heres a quick calculator for you guys that wanna play around. its a really good tool.

http://www.race-cars.net/calculators/mph_calculator.html

or if you wanna do the math
MPH = TIRE RADIUS ÷ 168 x ENGINE RPM ÷ GEAR RATIO
RPM = 168 x GEAR RATIO x MPH ÷ TIRE RADIUS
GEAR RATIO = TIRE RADIUS x RPM ÷ 168 ÷ MPH
TIRE RADIUS = 168 x MPH x GEAR RATIO ÷ RPM

Low PSI slicks will get taller the faster they spin because of the G-forces involved so maybe that is the difference????

yes i know but a 28" tall tire is still the same tire. with centrifigual force it would have to grow over 3"? not registering in my head i guess.

ASUSMC

I'm sure it could at the correct PSI and I have no idea what PSI Dan is running so can't be sure.

Lucafu1

it has more to do with the side wall of the slick then the psi since that is the part that will stretch and make the tire grow

SonicVenum almost hit his rev limiter (set at 7000 rpm) while trapping 131.96 at a Sea Level Track.

He was pretty informative when he raced, but then again, he was losing alot of air from the screwed rims he had.

From the tires I ran, the combination of tire pressure and duration of the burnout effected my top rpm too.

I seen one too many motive gears lose a tooth or teeth.... 3.73 would be nice if you have the trap speed and 4.10's is almost perfect for my track. Almost meaning I wish I had taller tires then 25.7"...cross the line 400rpms beyond 6200 and forget sea level. 6700 ~ 6800rpm's.

over 135mph? 140mph is where I thought you needed to worry about?

3.73's look like you gear, but wont 28" tall tires be too much?

I believe it is ok to over rev just a tad bit at the big end, but not by too much. Dont you only need like 138mph to dip into the 9's anyways? Full Weight, Great Short Time and Ratt Daddy style of shifting?

Burntire, I just checked Speedworld's mph/rpm range calculator and it says that with a 28" tire and 4.10s, you should be running 132.1138211382114 at 6500 rpm. Of course, that's assuming you're in 4th gear.

Hope this helps.

are you taking in to consideration "tire growth" and converter....... I didnt think so

ask Jeff I went 147mph with my c-4 and 4:10 shifting @ 7200 RPM

how is it not possable
4.10 with 28" tall

6500 = 132.1138
7000= 142.27
7500= 152.43

according to this I can go 152@ 7500 RPM this has not lied to me yet

Most people assume a driver shifts at 6500 max. You never stated you shifted at 7200 in the old post.
Your trap speed is attainable with a 4:10 considering tire growth and your shift points.

Ok I actually have a question that has something to do with gears.

At roughly 5700-6000 rpm (redline) in 4th gear I am at about 120. Not any faster and I'm not paying too much attention to the gauges at that speed more the road. How is it that people with less power and the same gears can pull 4th to about 140ish???

i dont know, theres to many things to factor in. do the 2 cars have the same wheel height? is the other car lighter? more aerodynamic? tires filled up more to reduce surface friction? does he rev that car higher? theres way to many factors to consider on a question like this. more info is needed.

PS. i wouldnt trust stock gauges either, they are close but in no way accurate.

I have since I was a kid. Thats the reason I spent all the money on taking classes like Aerodynamics and Fluid Dynamics. But I just decided that I would take a semster off to join the Marine Corps Reserves and have them pay for it (didn't work out because of my previously blown out knee). ASU in the time I took that one semester off changed graduation requirements that I would have to go to school for another whole year making it 7 years of school (full time) for my BACHELORS. I just can't afford that with the car (just the payments and insurance) and living alone.

That being said I hope to get my Private license in a couple years here cause I do love flying.
