Hi all,
What do you think of my hood vents? Not sure how to post pics but here is my first try. I didn't like my cheap plastic stock vents so I designed an made these. I made them out of mirror polished stainless steel. I included some links below to my autoX vids below also.

enjoy,
Ralph-

Well that is something I haven't see yet.
I think they look good.
You should start a business.

They aren't my taste but they are kinda neat I must admit.

The only downside is that they don't allow hot underhood air to escape as intended.

I think a set that look somewhat like the stock vents would also draw some interest. How are you securing them to the hood?

Ralph,

For some reason I remember reading that the airflow is supposed to go thru the grille opening, thru the rad and condenser and will rise up from the electric fan area. I don't know if this makes sense but who the heck knows what ford is thinking. lol

I do like the Steeda cowl induction hood and will probably get one this winter. Don't think about copying me either Jeff!! heheheh..

I like the stock hood. Maybe you can get a crown air filter and put it on the dash also. LOL

I will post up a bad ass pic later of the hood that I like. It really does look killer!

Good point Mark, so you push air thru the front (rad/cond) up and out before going over the motor. Sounds like they may be smarter than we (opps I) think, hehehe.

Jeff,
They are held in the pocket with double sticky tape. I don't know if you ever popped the existing vents out but it's real easy, I am surprised they don't pop out. They don't have much incentive to move in the pocket so they should be fine. The tape I used is 3M tape that is heat resistent, flexable and is used to hold tractor trailer fenders on... It's really high quality tape, I purchased thicker tape so if you want to remove them you can fit a razor between the tape thickness also the tape conforms to the car better. I didn't put the tape all the way around so when you wash your car it won't sit there in the corners. You can see the install and the vent pocket in my video.

I am thinking I might do a black powder coated steel version with a more open pattern than stock probably between the billetflow and stock. I would be trying to balance being open but not seeing inside.

Ralph,

I just watched the video, very nice work!

I didn't realise that the vents were open at all until I saw the video. At first it looked to me like they were painted black on there and not laser cut thru. I actually like them a lot better now that I've taken a closer look! :beerchug:

Like Jeff said you really ought to sell them. Have you thought about how much a set would cost if you did sell them?

I have seen the BF vents that Doug made. I thought that they were nice but the price is too much for me to spend for something that doesn't remove weight or add power. lol

Hi All,
I got the price down to $100. I am having a bigger run of them made so I was able to negotiate a better price.

Are you going to do any in the future in black, maybe with a little more stock vent look?

Actually mine are the only ones shiny, the pair I'm selling are brushed stainless. I put the mirror on mine as I have chrome wheels and chrome billet stuff in and out of the car so the brushed wouldn't look right on my car. I will look into powder coating them Black. I will admitt, they would look great in black.....
